Restaurants in Southbury, CT
Southbury has a diverse palate of restaurants in their wholesome town. Whether you are tasting pizza or something more ethnic then Southbury has something for everyone. Southbury like many small towns have some pretty tasty diners that bring back memories. Laruel diner was established in 1979 and has been in Southbury ever since. Two brothers bought the diner thinking it was going to be easy, little did they know this would turn into their full time jobs. Now the diner has been open for over 30 years and all their customers love the food and service Laruel Diner gives. If you are looking for a good pizzeria then you should try Juilo’s Wood Fire Pizza. This pizzeria and restaurant has served Southbury for many years.
Their pizza is not just baked, its wood fire baked in their brick oven. Customers have turned this pizzeria into their weekly meeting spots on the weekends to catch up with friends and family. Looking for a good place to have a drink and food then try The Tavern. It is a restaurant that specializes in new American food. They have recently done some renovations that have turned this restaurant into a staple. Anyone that goes there agrees that their staff and service is like no other. They are friendly and attentive, they treat you like royalty. Their drink selection is very good and many people go here for after dinner drinks with friends. Want something different? Southbury has a Thai restaurant called Samui Thai. This little restaurant is deceiving for most first timers. It looks small and dark when you look at its exterior, but it is well lit and has plenty of room for all. This family owned restaurant has a broad menu so you can try many different Thai cuisines.
I enjoy the Pad Thai and the Sizzling seafood the most, but everything there is great. Unlike some other Thai restaurant Samui Thai is very well priced, so you can have a delicious meal that won’t break the bank. Though this is not in Southbury it is very close. The Olive Tree is a Greek restaurant that boasts its upscale homely feel when you diner there. Starting off your meal with pita bread and hummus will not fill you up, because once you taste their home cooked meals you will be wanting more. Though their prices are affordable you would think that the quality of food, service, and ambiance would cost you more, but this is just who they are. A great Greek restaurant that is out of this world. Southbury has a little bit of everything for you to try, get out there and eat till you are content.

Learn About Lake Zoar
Southbury has a wonderful location being on Lake Zoar. Lake Zoar is ten mile long manmade lake that was created by the First Light Power Company in 1919. Southbury is not the only town to be on the lake, Monroe, Oxford, and Newtown also share Zoar. On Scout Road in Southbury is where you will find the boat launch, which also has parking for your trailers and cars. The three other locations to launch your boat are Monroe boat ramp, Newtown Eichler’s Cove, and Oxford’s Jackson Cove. Most boats are welcome and all canoes or kayaks are welcome. Remember 45 mph during the day and 25 mph after sunset are the speed limits on the lake. You can enjoy all your marine activities on Lake Zoar with little to worry about, because they have their own authorities.
The Lake Zoar Authorities are there to make sure everyone enjoys their activities and maintain safety. If you are a fisher then Lake Zoar is a good place to fish. The most common fish caught here is the small mouth bass, and has been rated safe to eat once a month. There are fishing tournaments that are held on Lake Zoar every year, though they are not open to the public it is a sight to see. Local beaches that are open to the public are great day trips to enjoy a hot summer day sun tanning and swimming. Some the most popular activities on the lake are tubing, water skiing, and jet skiing. For those that don’t know tubing is when you are on an inflatable tube, similar to those used in sledding, and you are pulled by a boat.
This is a lot of fun especially for the older children that want to do something exciting with friends. When you need to take a break on the water just pull over to one of the many sand bars to enjoy a meal or just relax in some shade on your own part time private island. Lake Zoar is a hidden diamond that will give you countless memories and endless fun.

Although Southbury is a small town, roughly 40 square miles there is quite a bit to do in and around the town. One of the great things to do in Southbury, if you enjoy the outdoors, is going to Kettletown State Park. Here you can camp for 17 dollars a night, plenty of room for outdoor activities, and many trails to go on hikes. It is a beautiful state park, but remember that no dogs and no alcohol in the park. Although there is no dogs allowed, there is a dog park in Southbury. This open off-leash dog park has everything for any dog. Hiking trails, fenced off areas for those that have smaller dogs, and is 14 acres big. I have brought my dog here several times, the land is beautiful and the hiking trails are perfect for our energetic dachshund that wants to explore everything. While the state park and the dog park are wonderful places to go to enjoy the outdoors, there is a special place to watch the wild life.
The Shepaug Eagle Observation is perfect for all ages and enthusiasts a like. You can watch the majestic bald eagle in their natural habitat. When I was young we would go every spring to watch them fly, hunt, and nest. The facility can comfortably fit over 40 people, and have plenty of accommodations for anyone that wants to watch the eagles. You will need to make reservations in advance to go there, but it is as easy as going to their website or calling. Southbury has some nice things to do outside the town line. Just a stone throw way is Quassy Amusement park. This park is great for the children in the summer because it is also a waterpark. Quassy instills the nostalgia of an old fashion amusement park with modern day technologies. They also include a great food court, arcade, shows, and a beach for picnicking and swimming. If you are looking for more live entertainment, then look no further than Waterbury.
An easy car ride away there is plenty to go see at the Seven Angels Theatre or the Palace theatre. The Palace has been re-renovated and absolutely beautiful, making you feel like you’re in theatre for nobility. Seven Angles has had many great reviews for a little theatre, they sure can perform. During the winter if you are looking to learn how to ski or snow board there is a little place in Woodbury. This place has skiing lessons, tubing, and snowboarding, although this is a great place to learn, I would recommend that those that know what they are doing look at other slopes. Southbury is a small town, but has a lot to do in and out of their city limits.

Winter is getting close and the need for a good snow maintenance company is right around the corner. We’re getting our fleet of trucks ready to go for what we hope is a long, cold and snowy winter. Snow Plowing is a great way for us to keep our landscapers busy during the winter months, but an even better way for us to pick up new clients. You would be amazed at how poorly most snow & ice removal companies treat their clientele. You’re better off depending on your neighbor to plow your driveway than count on some of these bigger snow maintenance companies in Connecticut.
Grabbing a shovel and breaking your back trying to shovel your driveway is another great way to get hurt. Many people 50 years old and above hurt their backs trying to save a couple bucks doing their own snow removal. I can tell you from experience that a chiropractor is definitely more expensive then getting your driveway plowed by a professional. If you’re in need of help with keeping your driveway clear or office parking lot clear feel free to give us a call.
We do both residential snow removal and commercial snow removal. Our team works at all hours of the night and morning to keep your driveway or parking lot clear. We do more than just remove the snow! Our team handles salting as well to reduce the build up of ice overnight during those long storms.
